Rory McIlroy aims to focus only on golf after rough exit from TPC

Rory McIlroy is a name that doesn’t require introduction and the British golfer has been one of the world’s most famous athletes in the world. However, he had a torrid little time after he missed the cut for The Players Championship underway at TPC Sawgrass. Following that, the star golfer admitted that his performance was badly affected because of the LIV Golf.

McIlroy has been keeping himself busy by taking up meetings and talking to players since the Saudi-backed series came into existence. However, this schedule was heavily affected, which had a negative impact on his performance at the Players Championship.

“It’s just the time management. The golf [at tournaments], that’s fine, but it’s just more the time at home to make sure you’re getting prepared, to make sure that you’re doing everything you can to be ready once you show up to these weeks. That’s where I’ve maybe sacrificed a little bit of time with some of this other stuff,” Mcllroy said.

In what turned out to be a very disappointing result, Rory McIlroy finished the first round of The Players Championship at 76 and missed the chance to enter the second round. The deteriorating weather had a negative impact on the second round of the Players Championship. Nonetheless, the tournament concluded with three rounds on Saturday, with the final round scheduled for Sunday, March 12.

Rory McIlroy began with a double bogey on the first hole of the first round. He started his game on the 10th hole and then got a birdie on the 11th hole. He made a bogey on the 15th hole, two more bogeys on the first and third holes, and a birdie on the fourth hole. Rory finished it up with a bogey on the last hole and ended the day with a score of 76.

On the second day, the Northern Irishman sank a bogey on the fifth hole and then a double bogey on the sixth hole. He made three birdies and two bogeys in the second round, to finish at a score of 73. It was arguably one of the worst performances of his career since the Masters in 2019 but the golfer attributed it to the fatigue he has been experiencing lately.
